Nestled in the Sherman Oaks hills, this multi-level single-family home is designed for entertaining. With a pool, spa, backyard, a balcony at every level, and a roof deck this residence will not disappoint. The structure is cut into the hillside and steps back to the contour nature of its surrounding.
Trader Joe’s #122 – Studio City

This Trader Joe’s tenant improvement included replacing a bearing wall with a moment frame. This facilitated the expansion of the supermarket into a neighboring tenant space.
Bundy Apartments
- Los Angeles, CA
- 4,300 square feet

This project is a 3-unit apartment complex in the westside of Los Angeles. The four-level structure hosts one apartment unit on each level and roof decks with exceptional views.
Crest
- Manhattan Beach, CA

Near the shores of Manhattan Beach and with mesmerizing ocean views, this project consists of a single-family home with a partially subterranean level. The three-story residence on a small lot makes efficient use of the space while maintaining architectural elegance.
Trader Joe’s #55 – Eagle Rock

This project expanded an existing 7,000 square-foot structure into 12,000 square feet to receive Trader Joe’s as a tenant. It also included a mechanical equipment platform. The new structure was composed of wood shearwalls, moment frames, and a roof built of wood joists and steel beams.
California Condominiums

A 3-unit condominium complex in Santa Monica, each features a multi-level floor plan with a welcoming roof deck. The vibrant exterior façade accentuates the length of the break levels and provides the illusion of floating blocks.
Broadway
- Santa Monica, CA

Due to the exceedingly small lot, this single-family residence is arranged vertically. Located in a commercial district of Santa Monica, the program stacks with parking on the ground floor, bedroom level, and then living level above that, with an office mezzanine.
Trader Joe’s #17 – Silverlake
- Los Angeles, CA
- 11,800 square feet

This tenant improvement involved joining to tenant spaces by removing a bearing wall and replacing it with a moment frame. A big challenge on this project was delicately designing around bowstring trusses. The expansion enabled Trader Joe’s to move in.
Brooks Avenue One
- Venice, CA

Located in the bohemian neighborhood of Venice, the single-family home features pop-outs that give the elevations a feel of an extra dimension. The project also showcases polished concrete floors, floor to ceiling sliding glass that opens to a side yard, and an abundance of greenery.
Placerita Baptist Church

Designed in two phases, this large house of worship features a partially subterranean multipurpose room and a sanctuary in upper level. The unique design is inviting and warm to encourage fellowship.
Alfred

It started as water-damaged, crumbling house tangled in overgrown vegetation, but with the extensive renovation and retrofit, it became a concrete-and-steel pavilion. Filled with industrial skylights and enormous fireplaces the glass, concrete, and steel construction became a hidden gem.

Adjacent to the 405 Freeway, and with captivating views of the Getty Center and the surrounding mountains, the design for this residence emphasizes on presenting the site’s distinct views. The single floor living space sits on a partial subterranean garage and blanketed by a folded steel roof.
Trader Joe’s #48 – Whittier

This project consisted of a tenant improvement of an existing structure to allow Trader Joe’s to occupy the space. The renovation required opening the space by demolishing existing concrete and masonry walls that were replaced with shorter shotcrete walls.
Manifold House
- Los Angeles, CA

The project located in the artsy neighborhood of Silver Lake has panoramic views towards the Silver Lake Reservoir. The design consisted of an addition and a complete remodel of the residence, effectively doubling the useable living space. The steel skin and its associated plaster interior liner form a spatial manifold that envelops the residence.
Brooks Avenue Two

Starting with an already narrow Venice lot, this parcel was subdivided down the middle that resulted in two seismically separated houses. The units featured a central courtyard to help get natural lighting into all parts of the building and a sculptural center stair made of glass and laser-cut steel.
